When this method is used, it produces a dense, uniform covering of foliage spaced evenly throughout the branch structure. Typically, you’re left with a tree of the same shape and size.

Crown Cleaning
Diseased, dying or dead branches which are removed from the trees crown is called crown cleaning. This process is different from crown reduction in that little of the live crown is removed.
Crown Reduction
Reducing the spread of the tree crown and reducing the height of the tree. Often used to give the tree better balance with its surroundings and possibly reduce the effects of shade. Not to be confused with tree topping. Crown reduction should result in a similar shape but smaller outline. Not all trees are suited for crown reduction and our arborist can assist with this decision.
